5 Fitness Apps That Pay YOU to Work Out!!
This one we find to be more of a betting app. The premise is that you make sure you lose enough weight based on a placed bet you made on yourself. The overall premise of Healthwage is:
- Set a weight loss goal
- Enter your current stats
- Reach the goal
- Win your cash prize
Don’t Believe You Can Get Paid to Lose Weight?
There are real success stories from users of Healthywage. You can join a team for a group goal, or you can set your weight loss challenge.
Healthwage Question(s) You are Thinking of
The question we had and the question you are thinking is.
How the heck do they really know I’ve lost the weight?!
The answer: the Healthywage service does have an app, and they’ll have someone monitor your weight loss and determine eligibility. How they do this is through video and photo submittals when you weigh yourself on applicable scales.
Other basic answers to your Healthywage questions:
- Taxable? Yes through W9
- How do you get paid? PayPal or Check
- How often to verify weight? You can do a verified weigh-in at the beginning and end of your challenge
- Can I get a refund? Once you place your wager, it’s non-refundable

3: Walgreen’s Balance Rewards
Didn’t think you’d see this one on here? Well, Walgreen’s mission is to make sure you are healthy, keeping up with that strategy is their reward system. If you are a regular Walgreen’s shopper, you would have probably been prompted to sign up for their reward program. Either that or every time you are at the register you get asked your Balance Rewards number. Did you know that if you link your Rewards Card to your Fitbit, you earn more points redeemable for Walgreen’s products? Well, now you do!
We’ve tested our Sweatco.in and although we love the idea of reaping Sweatcoins and fractions of the coins through steps, it takes forever to get an actual reward. Still, it’s a unique app with a large growing community.
For every 1,000 steps outside (you have to be outside since it uses GPS) you’ll get .95 Sweatcoin. We don’t know how much this is in US dollars. Other drawbacks are that it’s a heavy resource app and requires to be on most times. Sadly, we don’t recommend this one just yet.
5: Charity Miles
If you have the spirit of giving back and want to get fit at the same time, then this is the app for you! You can download it for Android and iOS and donate each mile you run to charity. This app also uses GPS so it’ll be one of those heavy resource apps, but should probably be turned off once you stop running. According to Charity Miles, the money is generated from large advertisers like Johnson and Johnson through banners ads on the app, so it makes sense that these dollars will, in turn, be donated when you are running the app.
It’s not New Year’s Day yet, but you are yearning to get into shape. You can try these options that pay you to work out, although they might not motivate you. Sure, you can also just go for a run outside, do push-ups, and more, but the purpose of this article is to find reliable services that you might find useful and motivate to get you fit! For those on a budget, and those who just are curious about how to get into shape using new tactics, here are a few to get it done under $20.
How to Get Into Shape For Less Than $20 Per Month!
When it comes to finding time for fitness, things could get cloudy. It’s time to consider some alternative options before things get out of hand! Perhaps you love the outdoors and like to go hiking and skiing, or maybe you want to try out a new sport. Either way, things happen, and the best place to workout is undoubtedly your own home. No commute equals time saved, and that’s a significant benefit when it comes to finding time to work out.
Home Work Out? Really?!
When it comes to home workouts, you think of the ’80s follow along videos with Richard Simmons, but in reality, some kick butt programs inevitably get you into shape and have you motivated every day. The golden age of streaming is here, and there are now so many options to choose from perhaps you don’t know where to start! Here are the main home workout places to go to online
Of all of the options, Daily Burn is the newest and most proactive when it comes to innovation in this space. They’ll stream LIVE workouts for you to work out to every day called 365. Other benefits of Daily Burn are the ways you can choose to work out with equipment, duration length, or pick your favorite trainer. One downside is that there isn’t enough focus on the live streams and the trainers you may like don’t have enough videos to warrant following. It is a good option however with good price at nearly $13 a month. Try Daily Burn free for 30 days and see if it works for you.
Amazon Prime Video
One of the untraditional options would be to look at Amazon Video for a good fitness video. Often overlooked when it comes to your Prime Subscription, Amazon Prime Video has thousands of videos including Fitness. Quality is a bit of a sacrifice, and you’ll have a tough time finding something you may like, but there are options here, and it’s no additional cost should you have a Prime account.
Beachbody On Demand
If you are familiar with the online home fitness world, you know of Beachbody. The group that has brought P90X, an untraditional way to get fit within 90 days. Many people back up the program giving it validity. Of all of the streaming options, the trainers here are motivational and have the experience to boot. Of the options, it does come with a slightly higher price tag at $99 a year, but with the signup, there is a 30 Day Money Back Guarantee, which is pretty much giving you a trial run at the program,
We didn’t overlook the web’s most sought-after media database ever. With a growing user base and king of all streaming options, YouTube flys well under the radar when it comes to Fitness Videos. Because fitness producers don’t look to YouTube for money or don’t have the knowledge to do so, several high-quality YouTubers make great fitness programs. One we connected with was HasFit, a family run fitness team that will rock your body to the fullest!
Motivation through your ears
Fitness videos in front of a TV are not for everyone. For those who like to break free of the house, or just want to move around a bit and still have motivation through a device like your smartphone, there are some neat options.
MoveWith ($6.99 a month)comes with audio classes in areas like Yoga or Running for example. If you like to run on a treadmill, you may find that having someone provide you motivation could be the extra piece to getting into shape. What is Aaptiv? Well, Aaptiv is a popular alternative to MoveWith, that has a bigger following at this time, but a slightly higher price at $9.99 a month.
Your local gym
It’s totally possible that you could find a decent rate at a local gym. Most of them will likely try to include fees and possibly contracts, negotiate if you can. WiseBread’s 5 affordable gym list may help point you in the right direction.
Crave a different feel every time you hit a fitness class? ClassPass gives you a ticket to try many classes in your area for $9 a month.
Since we’re already in the sharing economy, why does this not yet apply to the Gym and Fitness world? We can rent out our car for extra cash, or rent out our place! Gyms are seemingly a tremendous next step when it comes to sharing. Well, thanks to our friends at ClassPass, you can now explore many great fitness activities in your area for one monthly subscription.
You can start learning how to do Yoga one day or join a Wellness class the next. Pick and choose what you want to do. After all, fitness is not a one size fits all model! (Thanks to HASfit for that line). Not everyone is a Gym or Crossfit guy or girl, but why not have the option to be either one?!
Here’s what it looks like in our area
