If you ever dreamed of earning money by doing almost nothing, you’ll be pleased to know that MoneyHax has your back. There are several apps out there willing to give you money for you to try them out, including money right now!
Before you dive in, you should realize that it’s super important to build an emergency fund so that you don’t have to rely on funds coming through the last minute. But we get it, it’s not easy sometimes, so we hear you on that front.
Also, if you have a full-time job and you can verify employment, you may want to consider an app like Earnin or Stash. The app will get you paid a tad earlier if that helps you in your current situation.
Below are some services that will pay you money to try them out. Some require an email address, and some pay through points, which in turn can be redeemed for PayPal money and so forth.
Most of these, if not all are easy to download, sign up for so let’s take a look!
If you really need money now, try these:
Some ideas if you need money but will require a hands-on approach and likely have to deal with people (I know, I know)
Donate Plasma from Blood – Varies
You can put in a Google search for Plasma donations, and you’ll find sites like http://www.immunotek.site that will give you up to $75 for your first two Plasma donations. Sure it’s not ideal, but if you are open to donating some blood, it’s a viable way to earn some money quickly
Get a Personal Loan – Varies
This is not the ideal situation, but Personal Loans are there for emergencies and other relative financial situations. You’ll be charged an interest fee that will, in turn, make the personal loan company some money in the long run, but if approved, you could earn money as soon as the next business day. We’ve partnered up with EVEN to help you find the best personal loan no matter your situation!
Sell Your Stuff – Varies
Depending on what kind of stuff you are willing to part from there are so many apps that will help you earn money TODAY, and perhaps within the hour if you are quick enough. Keep in mind to take quality pictures of your stuff. People tend to buy in-demand electronics, collectibles, necessities and tools, and more. Try these favorite apps to get started:
The DAVE App – $75 Advance
Backed by the Shark Tank cast member Mark Cuban, you can get a cash advance of $75 within the day when you try this app! DAVE works as a Personal Loan or Advance so they’ll charge you a fee for this, but if you are within the requirements you should be eligible for the $75 from DAVE!
Have a Gift Card? Coinstar it! – Varies
Coinstar has been around for decades now and will take your spare change (if you have any lying around) and will turn it into cash at local supermarkets and chains. Not many are aware that you can replace gift cards with money by using these machines as well! (They’ll take a huge chomp out of your final value though at around 20% of the cost)
Pawn Something – 20-40% of Item Surrendered
Most people think Pawn Shops are for selling stuff and getting ripped off. But that just isn’t the case. You can always Pawn a valuable item and get money for it at a Shop but you’ll pay a massive amount of interest if you want it back.
Meaning, if you Pawn a necklace (not sell it, Pawn it) for $200, you’ll get the $200. But if you want to buy back the Pawned necklace it’ll probably cost you $240 and up to get it back (within a limited time also). It’s not ideal but it’s a legit way to get money if you need it!
Side Hustles (i.e. UBER or Lyft) – Varies
Some may ask: “Do apps like UBER pay instantly?” and the answer is complicated. Some do pay instantly but may incur a fee. UBER has released an Instant Pay option where you’ll need to sign up to release funds into a debit card instantly. Find more info here!
Other Side Hustle Gigs we recommend are:
Sell Your Photos – Varies
We’ve seen some newer sites that offer an avenue to sell your photos via smartphone easily. It’s probably not instant, nor is it easy but it’s possible. Smartphone empowers people to sell photos these days so it may be time to list your photos on apps like:
- Job Spotter
Time to Sell Those DVDs – $.50 cents through $10
Don’t expect to get much money for the ancient media we used to call DVDs (or even CDs). You can still find plenty of avenues to get rid of them including OfferUp and Craigslist. But some Pawn Shops also will take them in since there’s always a crowd of people who collect them.
We go over a few other ways to get rid of DVDs here
Cash Back Credit Card – Varies
If you have a cash back card, there may be enough of a balance to redeem a credit in the form of money, yes money, in your account. If you are interested, Cash Back cards likely have a one time bonus when you spend a certain amount of money as well. For example, the Chase Freedom card will sometimes give you a bonus of $100 through $150 if you spend $500 within the first few months!
Rent out…stuff – Varies
People are weird, and with that, you can start renting out pretty much anything on the app fatllama. Yes, you read right. Is it me, or all of these cool apps have a weird name to them? Anyways, fatllama is super easy to sign up to and will list your stuff. You should register whichever you think would have a good chance of being rented out though. Here are some excellent examples:
- Higher end Digital Cameras
- Visual and Audio Equipment
- Party and Entertainment Equipment
- More upper-end computers
Try to Get Money on Stuff You Bought
Below are some additional apps that could net you money only through cutting costs other methods of saving.
TRIM – Approximately $10/mo
If you’ve ever noticed your cable bill rising and you don’t know what to do about it, let TRIM handle the rest. Not only can you link your cable/internet bill to the service, but they’ll also automatically negotiate a better cable rate.
They’ve also introduced SiriusXM and Home Security bill negotiation as well.
SPENT Money – $10
This app operates as an expense report, as in you’ll see all of the transactions you’ve made in one place and easily keep records (including scannable receipts) of your purchases. First, you’ll have to link your applicable credit/debit card(s).
The best part of this app is that there are cash back opportunities with large brands like Amazon, Walgreens, and Starbucks! Although not a huge percentage of cash back, it’s virtually free money…including the $10 Bonus after your first cash back eligible purchase! Also available are local cash back opportunities, but you’ll have to look around through the app to find them.

Drop – $5 in Gift Cards
Working the same way as Spent, the app Drop is a points-based version, whereas you can shop at selected merchants like Dunkin Donuts or Target, for example, and you’ll earn points for shopping there.
Earn enough points for every dollar spent, and redeem them for gift cards! Earn more substantial point bonuses when you sign up for unique offers found on the Drop dashboard.

Ebates – $10
Much like ibotta, but only online, Ebates will pay you money to shop. Shop online through their portal and get cash back on particular merchants and retailers.
By signing up and purchasing anything over $29, you’ll get the $10 bonus gift card either as a Walmart one or through Ebates Cash Back Credit!

DOSH – $5 for Referrals
One of the more popular apps offers a significant amount of cash back opportunities, including local ones. Many of the merchants included like Papa Johns, Denny’s, and Chili’s have decent cash back returns.
DOSH also is a bit different considering their opportunities with Hotels. You can earn up to 250 Dollars just by staying at a Hotel for a few days! Again all you have to do is link your credit/debit card(s), and you’ll be automatically included in these offers.
Earny – Depends on Shopping Habits
If you spend money, you can get some money back by protecting yourself through price changes shortly after. For example, if you bought a mattress for $500 on day 1, but on day two the bed goes on sale for $50 less, you can get that $50 back (depending on the online store’s policy). Let Earny handle these types of transactions by accessing your digital receipts. It’s super easy to sign up, and many credit cards have this protection included!

Arcadia Power – Free Wind Energy
For select areas, you can swap out your current electric bill for 50% Wind Energy at no extra charge to your electric bill. You’ll need to switch to Arcadia’s dashboard to pay, but it will take care of your statement once you sign up for it. So it’s a win-win: Free Wind Energy (50% of your bill), and it’s also a beautiful interface and user-friendly!
Philo – Free Streaming TV for 7 Days (Avoiding Cable)
The rise of online streaming services like Hulu, Netflix, and Sling TV has brought fierce competition to the cable cutting concept. Skip paying for cable tv and pay premium subscriptions or shows that you watch.
Philo is a newer app that will only require a telephone number (cell) to try out and offers a beautiful array of channels like HGTV, Cooking, ESPN, and a few others. Try it risk-free for seven days!
Try to not package any internet bill with a TV plan. Not only will you get stuck with a stupid TV set box that you’ll never use (that you’ll have to return), but it’s totally unecessary and even more expensive.
S’more App – $3/Month
Perhaps the easiest option on here, and the concept is straightforward. Replace your current lock screen application with this Android Only lock-screen app, and you’ll earn a set of points.
Over time you can redeem these points for gift cards, which can convert into cash. Time to try the S’mock App Hack!
How to Avoid Free Money Scams
It doesn’t matter if you have a ton of money lying around, or if you are dead broke, people will always try to scam you out of money, even when you want money in return. Here are a few tips on how to avoid getting scammed out of money:
- Make sure the Business or Avenue is a Registered Business
- If there are government based offers, you should verify that it’s a real business and not a fake governmental website
- Never share any sensitive personal info like your Social Security Number unless it’s an FDIC insured company or backed by a recognizable source
With these unique tips and ideas, you’ll be sure to afford those extra vacations or make a bill payment on time.
